Georgina M. Bushnell received her B.S. in Food Science Engineering from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico), her Postgraduate Specialization in Dairy Science and Technology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Science and Lund University, her Certificate in Principles and Practice of Liquid Milk Processing from Cheshire College of Agriculture, and her Professional Certificate in Translation Studies from the University of California San Diego. She has extensive experience working in food quality control, in scientific and technical translation and interpretation, and as a lecturer/professor in translation studies (University of California San Diego Extension from 2001 till 2015 and at San Diego State University since 2015). She has created and developed courses and materials, workshops, and entrance exams for professional certificate programs in translation and interpretation. She has also participated in several international and national conferences, seminars, and professional workshops, and she has been a guest speaker at UCSD Career Services, Asociación de Traductores e Intérpretes Profesionales de Baja California, the Interpreter Services Department of the U.S. District Court in San Diego, and the Riverside County Office of Education. She has been recognized by the SDSU Compact Scholars Class of 2017 for her outstanding efforts to support the academic achievement of Compact Scholars, by the Scholarly Teaching Academy as a CTL Teaching Academy Member in 2019, and in both 2018 and 2020 she was chosen by that year's Outstanding Graduating Senior to receive the Outstanding Faculty Award for Most Influential Professor-Spanish.
