Minor in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies

The minor in Portuguese and Brazilian studies consists of a minimum of 15 units, nine of which must be approved upper division courses taught in Portuguese. Any course taught in English needs department approval to apply to the minor requirements.

Courses in the minor may not be counted toward the major, but may be used to satisfy preparation for the major and general education requirements, if applicable. A minimum of six upper division units must be completed in residence at San Diego State University.

  • PORT 299: Special Study (1-3 units)
  • PORT 306: Portuguese and Brazilian Cinema and Culture (3 units) - also listed as LATAM 306

  • PORT 311: Advanced Reading, Writing, and Grammar (3 units)
  • PORT 312: Advanced Listening and Conversation (3 units)
